SVS WAS CANADA'S FOLLOW-ON CONTRIBUTION TO CANADARM DESIGNED TO EXTEND LATTER'S CAPABILITIES. IT INCLUDES OPTICAL & MECHANICAL SENSORS & POSITIONING DEVICES CONTROLLED BY COMPUTER SOFTWARE. KEY WAS FEEDBACK LOOPS; ACHIEVEMENT WAS INTEGRATION OF FEEDBACK WITH MANY SUB-SYSTEMS TO PROVIDE FINE CONTROL. SVS IS EXCELLENT EXAMPLE OF APPLICATION OF VIRTUAL REALITY TECHNOLOGY TO REAL LIFE.
